Another New Year

I think I am officially failing this 30 day challenge thinger...but I've decided not to care. Much like my new New Years resolution. Just kidding. But really. Last year I was apparently in a much different state of mind. Perhaps in the mostly-not-hungover state of mind that did not follow me to my present still-a-bit-hung-over state. Okay, so I just drank half a bottle of wine and I'm a little tired, which is different than hungover.

Anyway, I don't think I've accomplished anything from last year's to do list, as is my way, so I don't see much point in making a new one. It was a pretty terrible/normal year. This year I think I'll just try to become a better hermit. Maybe read some good books. Smoke less? I don't know, I'm really bad at self-improvement and it's very cold right now. I just want to sleep forever and never work or do anything at all. Can that be my resolution?

Bleh. The wine was a very bad idea.

Costume Hunting (2013 Edition)

Last Halloween was an epic fail by way of ideas. I scrapped together a Ms. Marvel-esque bunch of bullshit and called it enough. This time I plan on awesomeness. Okay, possibly only awesome to me, but fuck you, who cares what you think! Sorry, got a little over-excited again. Anyway, here are some of my ideas for this year's costume.

1. Mia Wallace (Pulp Fiction)

2. Death (Sandman)

3. Coraline

4. Hit Girl (Kick Ass)

5. Rogue

I am most seriously considering Rogue because my hair is already like hers (for the most part) but that costume is hella fugly. So...I don't know. I only have 20 odd days to get my shit together though, so at least this will give me a start.

Papa's Day

Growing up, my Papa (what I call my father) influenced me in ways I wouldn't recognize until now-ish. I had an unusual childhood, but I'm grateful for it. My bedtime stories were from Ray Bradbury and Stephen King anthologies, we watched Star Trek and Outer Limits together, and I'd fall asleep to him playing the guitar. We'd take long walks and he'd always listen to my slowly forming opinions and interests. Even now, I can talk on the phone with him for hours and never run out of things to say.

My Papa is probably one of my best friends, and always will be. I am so proud of him for putting together his music and finally having it recorded. Now I can listen to it on YouTube or his music page on Facebook whenever I miss him.

Beer Me, I'm Irish Mix

To honor St. Patrick's Day...obviously, a bunch of drinking songs. I'll probably hear "Red Solo Cup" eight million times at the bar tonight, but I'd rather hear these...

1. Beer Is Good - PsychoStick (so good)
2. Kiss Me, I'm Shitfaced - Dropkick Murphys (So kiss me, I'm shitfaced, I'm soaked, I'm soiled and brown)
3. Beer - Reel Big Fish
4. Drink - They Might Be Giants (let's drink! drink! This town is so great!)
5. Streams of Whiskey - The Pogues
6. Alcohol - Barenaked Ladies
7. Another Irish Drinking Song - Da Vinci's Notebook
8. Too Drunk To Fuck - Dead Kennedys
9. Fuck You, I'm Drunk - Bondo (and I'm going to be drunk 'til the next time I'm drunk!)
10. Beer, Beer, Beer - Flogging Molly
11. Who Spilt My Beer? - The Adicts
12. Beercan - Beck
13. Tubthumping - Chumbawumba (pissing the night away...)
14. Hooray For Beer - Bowling For Soup
15. Cigarettes & Alcohol - Oasis
16. Pretty Fucked Up - Faster Pussycat (she used to be pretty, but now she's just pretty fucked up)
17. Have A Drink On Me - AC/DC
18. Wasted - Black Flag
19. Alcohol - Gogol Bordello (a love ballad...to alcohol)

X-Mas Special 2012!!!

If there's one thing I'm looking forward to this Xmas, it's the Doctor Who Xmas special! Here is a far too short prequel 'Vastra Investigates' to the actual special 'The Snowmen'.

And because I'm that obsessed...the trailer for 'The Snowmen' as well.

*All I want for Xmas is a Doctor Who Special!*....Just kidding, I want my presents too.

X-Mas Mix

I'm not sure why, but this year, I'm hating Xmas music. I've never been especially keen on the holiday, but I've never been all that bothered by the music. Yes, it's the same every year, but whatever. But this year, my ears are in revolt. So here's some Xmas music I've decided I don't hate because it's not the average radio fare. Some of the songs are anti-Xmas, and some are awesome covers. Oh, and I'm not adding links because that takes way too long and I'm lazy. Look them up yourself.

1. Christmas Celebration - Weezer
2. I Will Be Hating You For Christmas - Everclear
3. Fairytale of New York - Florence Welch and Billy Bragg
4. Last Christmas - Jimmy Eat World (cover of the Wham! song)
5. Please Come Home For Christmas - Fiona Apple (Think she only did this at a concert, but love her voice)
6. I Won't Be Home For Christmas - Blink 182 (sorry Fiona)
7. Yule Shoot Your Eye Out - Fall Out Boy
8. Christmas Sucks Song - Arrogant Worms
9. Elf's Lament - Barenaked Ladies with Michael Buble (Green Christmas, the Grinch song, is also entertaining)
10. Don't Shoot Me Santa - The Killers (hahaha, seriously, watch the video)(I Feel It In My Bones is also good)
11. The Anti-Christmas Carol - Joss Stone
12. Santa Baby - Everclear
13. The Christmas Waltz - She&Him (from 'A Very She&Him Christmas' the hipster xmas album of choice)
14. Xmas Cake - Rilo Kiley (very depressing, but beautiful, as all Rilo Kiley songs are)
15. Meri Kuri - Weezer

And here's a bonus vid of Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt singing a New Years Eve song.
